Iron and the Vaquero

Went relic hunting yesterday, tried to disc out some of the iron trash. I found that the disc would not knock out large Iron,3-4"pipe collar or similiar. Sometimes it would start to break up when almost at max disc in the silver range. Is this normal for the V and other Tesoros

I just tried mine and it barely made a chirp. That was with me touching the pipe with the coil. Waving past the pipe at regular detecting speed did not produce any sounds at all. Disc. was set at highest level.

Never had a problem unless ground conditions change or mixture of junk near obects in soil. Good Luck.
