Went back to a spot that has produced a few strap hinges and other iron relics. Got a bunch of square nails, a buckle, a pair of scissors and a very large door hinge pin. Also got a shield shaped relic with three nails in it. Not sure what that is, though.

How about some guesses as to the age of this site?

The nails are the best way to figure an age. They all look like cut square nails to me. Those are divided into two types and have an approximate age. I may see a few type one nails which date from 1790’s-1830’s, however a majority if not all look like type 2 which date 1830’s to 1880’s. If you clean them up you’d be able to tell for sure. Of course these nails overlapped so my best guess if there’s a few type ones is 1840-1850’s, but no one can every be sure.

Cheers

Thanks for the help! I banged off some of the rust on them and took a few pics. Hope they're good enough pics so you can ID them for me.
