✅ SOLVED Iron Ring with hook

I find lots of iron rings in this area, but never one with a hook like this one.
I am assuming it is something to do with horses, mules, or oxen?
Lots of farming and logging has been done where this was found.

Using T-Net's photo-enlargement option seems to show that the small end of the straight part has a broken-open loop on it. (Is that what you are calling a "hook"?) If that is indeed what your photo shows, it means your find is definitely half of a broken snaffle bit, a type of horse bit. Compare yours with a complete one, whose loop is intact, in the photo below.

Actually, the loop connects with another loop on the other half of the bit, but you can't quite see that in the photo.

I found a couple of those same items, one slightly bigger than the other, so I assumed they were just some kind of horse tack, or saddle strap. I just added two more nails to the wall in my garage to hang them up with the rest of my rust.

Horse bit from the size of it. But was the two found together?
