Iron Thing?

Having a hard time figuring out what this thing is. It looks like it has three parts and they folded out at one time. Any help would be much obliged.

To me, it looks like a stand for a pot or something.

First thought was maybe hardware that holds a lid up for an old desk or chest. Or maybe off an old sewing machine table? Something like this?

Could it be a Music stand for holding sheet music ?
