Is it legal for any one to meltdown so called [ junk silver] U.S. Coinage?:icon_scratch:

Yes, only nickels and cents are illegal to mint. You can melt down every other junk silver coin, though it was illegal in the past.

Yes, it is legal, but with all the fees/effort required to melt it down, its just as easy to sell it to an investor who wants junk silver. No need to melt it down to sell it. If you want pure, just sell it and use the cash to get the pure silver, even paying a small premium is less than the $$$ from a refiner or the effort required to melt it down yourself (and then it becomes nearly impossible to sell because no one knows what the exact alloy you used was)
