is it possiable to work into belltone

I have a 150 ace
I'm wondering if the interference I'm getting is from a cell tower or near by transformer to work the 150 with connstate bell tone and listen for a brake in this mind numbing bell tone ringing to locate a gold mens class ring please help . I'm finding nearly impossible to find a stable setting unless I turn the sensitivity to the lowest settings to get a little less mind numbing ringing in my ears!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
