I found it in the rocks beside a creek. One side appears fluted. Found in Randolph County, North Carolina. FullSizeRender(2).webp

Sorry but IMO it is not Clovis. But it is an artifact. Out of my area for ID

Oh my bad manners Welcome to Treasurenet!:occasion14:

If I had to guess I would put it into the Gilford cluster of points made out of Ryolite.

Welcome to Tnet! Thinking chase2 is correct on the Guilford call and it would be the Archaic time period but it's hard to tell with the damage to the base for sure. It's a great find and you will find more probably so keep looking and post what you find.

Okay, thanks for the welcome and the info! I have found a few over the years, but my grandfather found a lot. He ploughed with a mule from the 1930's until the 1950's. walking behind the mule for many miles over time allowed him to find many points. I'll group them by general appearance and post pics. There are some I haven't found anything like online.

Welcome to TNET!

Welcome to the site NC _Randall.

I would have to agree with the Guilford type. Those are a fairly common type in your state.

As others have said WELCOME! And show us those other artifacts as well!

Thanks again! I just took some pics and will post in a separate thread.
