001.webp002.webpI found this on one of my last hunts.Started pecking at it yesterday and saw it had lettering,so I cleaned it up some and it says Thomas,Roberts, Stevenson &co.I did some research and they were a Stove & Hollow founders company1870-1880.so I am sure it came off of some kind of stove, but what is it?It kind of reminds me of a top to a lantern?I can see it has little attachments with little square nuts where it attached to something.

I think what you have is a portion of the top piece of a stove - like this one.

Some sort of lantern ?
When I first dug it my first thought was a steel bell until I saw the attachments underneath, then a top to a lantern was my second thought, from what I read, the company built stoves, I didn't see anything about them making lanterns.I think Charlie is on to something with stove top.I just couldn't imagine any stoves that would have a fixture like that.
