Is this a military button?

I found this button today. It's the size of a quarter. Does anyone know what it is? I gently cleaned it off. The back is missing

Well, it has the seal of Connecticut on it, but I can't see the back well enough to judge military/not

That looks a lot like it! I found it close to Vicksburg, MS. Strange it's way down here. I will clean off the back and take better pics. Thank you!
