Is this a Rev. War era button?

I found this button about two miles from where the Battle of the Brandywine (PA) took place today. I have looked up some and it seems to be close to a lot that I have seen. It is concave not flat.
It was pretty deep. Can't see any markings at all. Also, can I use peroxide on this?

It is most likely from that era. A tombac button.
