✅ SOLVED Is this a sword part?

This item is heavy, made of silver color metal, nicely decorated and measures about 4 3/4 inches wide.

Could anyone tell me if it's part of a sword and also, what type metal this might be?

Yes sword or dagger one (cross guard)..........looks like silver to me does it have a egg smell if rubbed with fingers hard?

Hi Pete,

Thank you for your reply. Actually it does has a bit of an egg smell when rubbed, I'd never heard of that before. Also, after I took the pics, I dipped it in silver cleaner (before remembering that they say on tv not to clean stuff). The end I dipped came out bright as could be.

I found it in my own backyard. I am located just a few blocks from where Civil War soldiers camped. No clue if this has anything to do with that or not.
