Is this a tool? found in Charleston SC

Is this a tool?, your thumb fits in the big dent and trigger finger goes in the small dent comfortably. I found it in Charleston. Laast picture shows the other stuff that was at that spot.

What would you use it for? I think it's just a rock.
 
lol.. beats me. ;D Its flint and has chipped corners around the "bottom". There are zero rocks in my area, you have to drive 3 hours to hit an area with rock.
 
I also think it is just a rock but, if I were you, I would be bottle hunting. Those are some old and unique bottles you have posted.

thanks, there was a small pile of flint on the island. This was the weird one. The bottle remnant in the middle still has the cork.

Go find some of those bottles. Some of the old ones are worth $$$. And those are some of the old ones. :thumbsup:
 
what time period? that trigger guard is a 1750s Brown Bess.. Is it in that time range?
