Found this under some large cedars next property over from an1800s schoolhouse. Rang up as an 81 on my at pro. About 3 inches deep.

The top says "in god we trust " and the bottom says "1860". There is a female bust in the center and is attached to two horizontal pieces of leather and 1 vertical.

This find has me real intrigued.

I don't know if it is Civil War related or not, and the chances are it isn't .. BUT .. the leather, the leather stitching and the rivets, at least appear to be consistent with the Civil War era.
That is an intriguing piece for sure. I like it! :thumbsup:

Apparently "In God We Trust" appeared on coins in 1864...
