Found this today and didn't think too much of it. I put it in my keeper pouch because it looked interesting. Later I began to wash it off and out popped this yellow :o color. This item is just a little larger than a quarter but about twice as heavy. There are no markings or inscriptions on it anywhere but I did notice what looks like a broken hinge on the top. Could this be gold? Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

From what I can see, it looks like rust on the "charm?" and may have been gold plated but only seeing what I can from the picture, that's my best guess.

Hello, WELCOME to the forum. Gold & Silver generally come out of the ground the way it goes in unless it has been exposed to rich salt minerals like the ocean/beach, and in that case it can be polished. Also, if it is gold, it will be marked 10K, 14K, etc. Your charm pendant looks to be gold plated, but still a nice find. I always enjoy finding jewelry of any kind. :icon_thumleft: Breezie
