Is this just a large civilian button? Any idea of age?

Found this button recently at a house that dates to the 1760s. Is this just a civilian button, or could it have other meaning? Now I'm probably just seeing things, but in the first pic, on the top left "ribbon" it looks to be an upside down "NC"?

What do you guys think? Age? The edge design reminds me of the "clouds" from the early Draped Bust Large Eagle dollars. I found an image from Heritage of the clouds (bottom pic)

Thanks for any input!

We call them 'Dandy Buttons' (civilian patterned) & this would place it circa 1780s
