I found This in a known Civil War Camp for the Union as well as an early 1900's farm. This item appears to be brass on the front and filled with lead or something very heavy that holds a prong in the back. There may have been another prong that is now gone. It is made similar to the larger Box Plates of the war but this one is slightly smaller than a U.S. Quarter. Is it a button, buckle or something else? Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
