I saw this in my change, I've been looking through every coin I can get my hands on Like the title says, "Is this something special or just plain common?" There are some other dimes in there to show differences but the '79-D is what I am talking about, it's the one in the first two images.

Jeff, the OP is trying to point out the "filled D" mintmark of the 79 Rosie. He was told in another section of TNet that it is common and carries no additional premium to a collector. It isn't an error rather the overuse of a die smashing dimes and the degradation of the die and "glop" filling voids in the die. Comparing a die from the 70's to one in this millennium is rather pointless as the Mint's engravers periodically retool dies to clean them up and add/accentuate details.

1979 Roosevelt Dimes from the San Franciso Mint had two series, Type 1 (Blobbed S) - similar to your Blobbed "D" and the true "S" after they discovered the die was causing problems and created a new one without the Blobbed S (Type II).

Same might hold true for the Denver mint as well. Worth checking into, I wouldn't just pass it off as a grease filled die until I further researched the issue, seems 1979 was a problem year for the Roosevelt dimes and the mints.
