Issue with ATX on Fertilized ground

My Garrett Atx sounds off hi/low everytime I swing the coil on heavily fertilized ground. I hunt a nut tree orchard for old coins and relics and I have to reduce the sensitivity to 7 which greatly reduces my depth not what I want. Anybody have the same issue or is it the coil cable issue.

Is there a lot of iron in the fertilizer? Years of accumulation possibly?
