This site has been my nemesis all of 2009. The first day I found the cellar hole I dug a 1813 LC in the first five minutes I was totally stoked for all the great finds I would make but it was not to be I never found another thing there all year despite many many hours scouring the site with my ace and even with a sniper coil never pulled out any other coins in '09 from the cellar hole of nails as I call it. Someone was here before me and cleaned up all the good signals. I recently got a Minelab explorer xs off ebay and outfitted it with a 5" DD coil there was a thaw here this week and I stole away to the hole to try it out this morning. After getting frustrated with all the nulling from the nails I switched to ferrous sounds and went all metal. It was a lot of iron noise but being an ace user I am used to ignoring a lot of chatter not 5 minutes later I heard a high flutey sound in between two iron signals about 3" apart I was hoping for an indian cent at best I started digging cut roots at 7" or so down still nothing, deep iron I thought but I had to know so I kept going and out popped a small holed silver coin from 8 or 9 inches I was sure it was a bust dime till I washed it in the stream and wow Spanish silver 1/2 Real 1783! my goal for 2010 was to find a 1700s coin it didn't take REAL long
