The weather here in north Georgia is unseasonably pleasant so I headed out for my first hunt of 2023. I went to a site that I've pounded over the years. Lots of good stuff had been found here: 1/2 Real, 1/2 dollar Barber, and loads of grape shot, Minié balls, round balls, a bayonet. multiple canon ball fragments, and all sorts of goodies.
However, I had been here so many times that the last time I visited I only found a V nickel in a 4 hour hunt. So, needless to say, I wasn't expecting to find much of anything. But, to my surprise, I scored not one but two nice Barber dimes (1907, 1901); one of which looks like it was dropped yesterday. I also snagged a crusty 1905 IHP, 18** V nickel, at least 1, if not 2 Minié balls, and couple round balls or grape shot.
