Japanese Menthodine ?

Does anyone know what Japanese Menthodine is?

This cap was found in a place where it could date back as far as the 1890s.

Interesting, I have never seen anything so stump Google, yahoo, Ask or Live.com. It returns nothing on menthodine.

Only thing I found was it's something in a pre-spot remover for carpet stains. Otherwise I can't find anything in my haz-mat databases about Menthodine. I found a Menthadiene, but that's as close as I have come so far.

Actually I think that was a typo, I pulled up some further MSDS sheets on the product and it stated Menthadiene. Could be one and the same though, who knows.

I would guess Japanese mint - just with a stylized name. Used for medicinal purposes, being valued especially for its antiseptic properties and its beneficial effect on the digestion.
