Anyone have any advice about MD'ing Jetty Park beaches? Looking for info such as "Very rocky seashore, not worth it" or "Theres lotsa sharks there!" or "Jellyfish nests all over!" or "You'll get arrested MDi'ng there!" or "You'll get beat up by local gangs!". but if there are any MD'ing tips that would be appreciated also.

Thanks!

I have never tried there, might be good due to all of the cruise ships close by. Is jetty park a state park?

Place is a disappointment.....I've been detecting there for a few years on and off only to find scad amounts of change. Lots of aluminum cans and fishing weights. Problem is the hard pack sand. If a person drops something, they can usually find it right away. Your best bet if you detect the place is to go out in the surf, but I haven't heard of too many people doing well out there either.

You have to pay $5.00 for parking (unless you buy a season pass for $10.00), but it's a clean beach, wide open areas, and zero gang problems. Place has restrooms and a snack lounge. Really good place for fishing though. Most people start coming out around 9:00AM.....

Good Luck and HH

Come on trash dude it ain't that bad. Just because you don't want to get your feet wet doesn't mean there's nothing there. ;D
I have found a few rings there, but it is harder digging than the other beaches in the area.
I found this diamond and onyx ring there, so its not all that bad.

LoL...... ;D ;D ;D By the way, it is badddddd........Place is only good for salt water fishing not DirtFishin'

Well, I've had good days and bad days at Jetty Park. Last time I was there, there were 6 th'ers swinging on the beach and I still picked up a $140.00 in gold value, man's bracelet. You WILL dig a lot of trash granted but if you discriminate to high on your detector then all you'll get is coins. Gold hides out in pulltab and foil settings. Good luck.

Park for free at Cherry Down Park and work your way north. Have hunted here a few times, generally slim pickings, did find a horse shoe once.

Just goes to show ya teklord, anything is possible while metal detecting.

Even at places that one would assume has nothing, we still find things

I was practicing with my Excalibur when I first bought it about 3 years ago at a local fishing pier. This lady on top starts yelling for my attention. I went over and she told me you are doing it all wrong. If you want to find something you have to go to the beach. I finished my time there, a total of 1 1/2 hours and walked away with about $5 in change, at least 100 pull tabs, lead weights, and 3 pieces of junk jewelry. The most important thing was I learned how to use my Excalibur and how to pin point with it. I only had searched maybe 10% of the pier area so theres probably some good stuff there. The bad news is that now they don't allow metal detecting at that park, someone wasn't filling holes in the children's playground area of the park.

I have also hit a few other areas off the beaten path and had good luck; lot's of silver just no gold from these spots, but who knows.

I have a few spots that I found lately that the only way to get to them is with a kayak. The part on land is private property, the river part is free. They are old swimming spots from the 1940's through the 1960's. One place even still has a piece of rope their in the tree (may be more modern).
