This newbie is getting better with the Garrett American S2. I'm finding stuff I missed the other day. Nothing great. The pennies are 1980-D and 1990-D.

But what is the other cylindrical thing? A magnet doesn't stick to it. It's threaded on both ends. One end is male, the other female. It's not a battery or a pistol cartridge. I'm thinking a fuel or water line filter.

KEPT LOOKING YOU WILL FIND MORE.

That whatsit looks like a cap to a air valve to a tire. Just a guess. I need to get out. I am sick of snow already here in Michigan. Hopefully tomorrow. Take care!

could be a filter/dryer for a refridgeration unit - like an air conditioner or a small refridgerator

There was once a Roman emperor who worshipped a meteorite named Elagabal, so who knows.

I'm starting to think it might be the business end of a bicycle pump. If I build a temple around it I'll post pix here.

My house was built in 1968, so I don't expect to find much (I'm still poking around my back yard). But I have learned to keep tweaking the tuning on the detector so that it will easily detect a penny that I have buried about 4" deep when I set the sensitivity at maximum, with no discrimination. Once I did that, I began to find pennies in areas that I had previously searched repeatedly. And the base of a clothesline pole or swingset pole is buried out there, so I expect to find more coins. It's good noob practice, with no interruptions.

I agree on the valve cap.

Whatever it is, we will worship it, and develop a creation myth for it.

There will be a picture of it in every important building in our glorious new civilization.

Where do you get these from? LOL :laughing7:
