Not the best condition but I will take it, My brother beat me by 2 years on this day by finding a 1862 in better shape.

That there is considered a Civil War relic. At least to me it would be. Love finding anything that was around during the war years. Great find! It's probably not as bad under that crust as you may think, but getting it off is the hard part.

Its bad, cleaning this one made it worse. This is the first Indian head I had when cleaning it made it worse, oil soak usually works great. oh well, it could be worse...
 

A momentous year. My 1864 is one of my favorites.
 

If ya can make out enough detail to know what it is its a good find. With a date it's a great find.
 

I agree with everyone else, any IH is a good IH! I was lucky, my first 1800's coin was an 1865 IH and I still can't get enough of it! Great find and hope you find many more! HH
