Thanks Joe for doing business! I got home from the office this evening and my new Tejon was waiting for me. It was pretty late so I just had a little daylight left to do a quick test. I will tell you one thing, it is a sensitive piece of machinery. It was going crazy in my house with when I turned it on for some air testing. I took it out determined to get it ground balanced so I could sweep and dig at least one target. I really am not sure if I got it balanced or not. I have read on here that you want the threshold tone to go up slightly when you lower it, but in the manual it says it should remain neutral when you lower it to be balanced. I lowered it and the tone rose pretty steadily. I tried going to the negative side but it didn't help much. I may need to turn down the sensitivity, but I didn't think of that when I testing it, so I will do that tomorrow. Either way I took a couple swings and dug a 22 casing pretty quick. After that it was time for dinner. First impression...I like it a lot, especially being it is my first Tesoro much less non TID detector. If anyone has any tips for the ground balancing, fire away. Thanks!

Ground balancing with a s-l-i-g-h-t increase was a technique we began using several years ago as that little bit of extra "umph". With today's circuits, we now can just go "supertuned" instead. If you can't get the sound to be neutral when ground balancing, it is OK to have the little increase.

To help you get the balancing accomplished, try turning down the Sens to about 4 or 5. That Tejon is a powerful machine and might take a lot more dipping and adjusting to get things right. You can do it, though. The more often you perform the GB, the easier it'll become.

And, Congratulations on getting a most excellent machine. :coffee2:

Philvis,

Thanks again for buying from me!
One of the most important things about proper ground balancing is to make absolutely sure that you have a good clean metal free piece of ground about two feet by two feet under that coil. If you get this part wrong then all that follows is to no avail. "Shortstack" gave you some good advise about keeping the sensitivity lower when getting used to GBing.. Start about a foot off the ground to balance and lower to within one or two inches of the ground, don't lower the coil so far that it touches the ground.. Keep the sensitivity low and the discrimination high while getting used to the detector. Let me know if you have any problems. Joe
