just when you think its "safe"

Re: just when you think its "safe"

yeah it makes me think about hitting up some of the areas that were washed away here by the flood.....gotta be lots of lost caches in the 9th ward.

I am sure the people in New Orleans did not feel safe to keep their money at home and from what I saw of all the looting and stuff the cops would have stolen any money that was found. Wait??? That is what happened isn't it? ???

Well surprisingly enough, I have already found one nice coin collection while gutting a house here, I'm sure there are others that were scattered when the houses broke up. All of this was found when I pulled a ceiling down:

Are ceiling caches common in New Orleans? Just asking. Never even thought of them before.

Almost every attic I've been able to poke around in had stuff in it. I found a box of jewelry in a different one, most of which was junk, but a few nice pieces. The coins seem to have been in a cardboard box which rotted away from the leaky roof. I never pass up a chance to poke around an attic though, I think a lot of times things were just up there so long that no one remembered them. Plus it helps that most houses have no inside access to the attics.
