I understand people worrying about targeted advertising. However your grocery store and your drugstore can tie you to everything you have purchased by use of the discount cards they give you. Forget that you neglected to fill in and return the membership application - if you used a bank card with your discount card even once, they know who you are. Hopefully you don't mind that your health insurance provider now knows you're living on a steady diet of bacon and cheese curls, or that you go through two dozen condoms a week. Oh wait, we're treasure hunters - strike that 2nd example.

I only wish my cookies could tell advertisers what I WANT, not what I already bought.

I would visit http://www.download.com and in your search box type "anti spyware" go by the user ratings & not the editors ratings there are a few good freeware programs out there , that will remove all the adware & spyware from your system.
