Try Smathers beach, what there is of it. Locals gave me the stink eye. Check the entrances and up under the trees. The beach at the state park is more rock than sand.

Noticed this is your very firsts post - so, Welcome Aboard! While waiting for a member(s) to pipe in - take a look at Sub-Forums: Florida for information, etc...

Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna try anywhere there is sand.

Bet you are looking forward to going to Key West, never have been down that way. Wishing

there are a bunch of locals that hammer the beaches there - so timing and luck when and where you hit

There is a small beach, a block or two from the southernmost point....did some drinking at the bar for about 2 hours, didn't see anyone hunting....THE PLACE WAS PACKED....this was Sunday... I left my machine at home, gotta be a good spot.

Hope don't mind digging bottle caps - guys sit there and flip or spin/shoot - bottle caps into the water there
my parents had timeshare there in the 90s before I was really into water hunting and watched guys flipping them at that beach
