Hard to tell but it looks like a broken valve, similar to an overhead valve engine. Is the edge tapered off like it has been ground to an angle?
Edit: seeing the closeups now that doesn?t seem as likely any more.

With the narrow part/stem at an angle, it almost looks like a furniture foot. What kind of metal is it?

It’s looks like ship brass but really hard. Pretty heavy chunk too 09E47A53-CCA2-4877-9188-21791FCD822B.webp that’s the top with contrast.

Ah, thats a clue. I kept seeing a rivit when i looked at your find. I think it was part of something that held maybe flume boards or gate together.

Does it have a bark design on the nub? Kinda looks like it in the 4th photo.

I think is may have something to do with The Woodmen of the World .. not sure what, but maybe a trophy, a small statue, or something of the sort. There must have been more to it and the hole suggests that as well.

I like where your going with that . I think all those holes have a letter in them like engravers initials. I was looking for threads and I noticed . I’m not near it to check them all but what I have in photos is

Really? Some of the details on this thing are insane. But you seriously need a lot of magnification or it looks like some pitted hunk of slag.
