Detector(s) used
MineLabs (Explorer ) , Tesoro (DeLeon ) ,Garrett (AT Pro Gold)
After some great finds in a small field here on Martha's Vineyard I decided to try a different field ,a pasture , as it was late in the day and I knew I wouldn't make it to my lucky field with any day light left. This pasture is hilly but has one section that is flat and looks like they may have used it for crops ? I searched the area and turned up ,one not so old axe head, , a horse stirrup, and a few buckles from horse halters. It was spitting rain and I was thinking of packing it in, I have a MineLabs underwater detector but rarely use it on land because it's so heavy compared to my Tesoro. So not wanting the Tesoro to get soaked as the rain picked up I headed for my truck. As I left the flat section of the field I got a strong signal at only 3 inches. This usually means a newer clad coin in my experience so I was very happy when this coin popped up !!! Not the best condition but I'm always happy to take a coin like this King George home !! The date on it is 1730

Actually, there is one store out here that sells detectors, I bought a pin pointer from them. The island is fairly big and consists of six towns. I think the majority of detecting out here is done on the beeches ? I have never run into anyone else detecting out here in the fields ? But, I've only been at it for about a year. Prior , i lived in Concord, Ma. where there are endless places to detect. I had only been into it for three months there before we moved.

Nice find and hope you find some more. You are in a good location rich in history ::)

man thats nice!!! i always wondered how it is tecting out in the vineyard. what part do you detect? willy.

I'm almost always in a field or in the woods out here as i like early coins as apposed to the beeches and finding jewelery ? I will however hit the beeches after big storms. I've only lived here full time for a year. so the beeches I have not hit yet. Because of the moisture out here the woods are more like the jungles in Jurassic Park ? At one time it was all cleared so it's not uncommon to find old walls and massive trees in the middle large conservation land tracks.

Looks like you have two lucky sites now! :laughing9: :icon_thumleft:

Congrats on the coin!

If you can get closer better pics maybe ,Don or someone can give you the variety of your coin...

Good old colonials can't beat those. Love em :hello2:

sweet, I hope you find plenty more.
