Clypster and I had a late Labor day hunt planned, while the wife and I were waiting for Clypster to meet us at the timeshare wife and I own in North Daytona, we were sweeping the beach along the seawall and I got a strong hit. I found buried under about 4 inches of sand in a plastic bag a cell phone, razor, clippers, and car chargers for both along with shorts, shirt, and flipflops. No wallets, no change, no jewelry. You could tell they had been there awhile as the clothes had a strong smell of mildew.
When Clypster arrived about 7:00 pm we left wife's car there and drove down to the Daytona boardwalk/pier in his and started hunting at that point walking north towards my car. We were finding some clad but not really anything to speak of or brag about. Well as it turns out it was farther then I thought between the cars, as measured on the odometer return trip to pick up Clypster car we were parked 3 miles apart.
It was a nice night for a walk, nice breeze, moon reflecting off the ocean. It was the wife's first time with me hunting, she got a little tired of walking, and a little bored as she has no MD to use, but she does show an interest in it. She carried my long handle scoop and helped me dig and look when targets were found, while I did the searching down the beach. We basically walked the 3 miles, I did some zig zagging, but not a lot as it was already a long walk.
We got back to the beach in front of the timeshare about midnight. Wife said she was going to sit in a chair that was on the beach and I decided to pattern search the low tide in front of the beach before leaving.
To make the story a little shorter, buried about 4 inches in the sand I found a Buliva M 7 ladies watch. It says 10k with stainless steel back. According to a website I found, Buliva puts the code on the back to tell what year it was made. M7 = 1967. (Same year as the wife
)
I am taking it to an Oriental mall in town that has a lot of Oriental jewelers tomorrow to see if it is worth trying to save it by trying to clean it. It did not appear to be buried long and I found it half way between hide tide and low tide mark so most likely it was lost yesterday. It did have a little water under the crystal, but hands spin freely when the stem is turned.
