Lady Luck deals us some nice finds, 1754 KG, Merc's, SLQ, IH's. silver thimble

Vino (George) and I talked last night, decided to run with old lady luck and knock on some doors. We ended up with a great permission and some good finds. Very long day for me, left the house at 5:50 am got home about 4:30 pm
I found a Standing Liberty Quarter, a 1944 Merc, a silver tie clip marked "fine sterling 925" George will have to tell you if there is a makers mark on it. He has it to put in a display case to donate back to the owner along with some stuff he found. I also found a 1896 Indian Head Cent and three wheats, 1934, 1930 and I believe a 1910

George found a 1754 King George, couple Mercs, couple Indian Head Cents, and a cool silver thimble with nice design on it, he said the makers mark on the thimble is from Simms Bros Inc., they started in 1839. He also found a dog license, couple really old buttons, one a blow hole, another is pewder, very nice.

The spoon and to the right are my finds

You had good pretty day in terms of coins. It seems like that place has items from many different eras. I hope you can get back there soon.

Coinman123,

It was fun...The home owner was a great guy..He loved history,so i told him what ever we find he is welcome to keep..
He has like 100 acres and he takes on wagon rides and lets them go pick pumpkins..In the fall he takes the kids for hay rides..His family had the property since the beginning...
Anyway I made up a case for him im sure he will like it..As we were leaving he told us about this tavern that was there since mid 1700s!! Guess what were doing tomorrow??? Lol..
Here is the finds cleaned up..

Looks like a nice old farm. That doesn't look like center city, lol. Good day of digging, I'd say. Sure beats the shotgun slug I dug this morning in a corn field:icon_thumright:

Much closer towards you Dave, wish you were there.

I'd guess Allentown then?

That far? Lol. Allentown is only about 30-40 minutes from you, lol.

Looks like a nice day out and with the finds to prove it. Like the decorated buttons and the thimble is really cool.

very nice finds gentlemen.

Very nice day indeed!

When I first started metal detecting in 2005, I never would of thought that a farm field that size would
yield so many wonderful things. . . until I detected my first field a year or so later and proved that
there are neat things EVERYWHERE just waiting to be revealed.

Also, a big "well done" to you and George for sharing your recoveries with the property owner.
The more you share, the easier it becomes.

Thanks W.C..
I get a little intimated with big fields, dont know were to start..

Long day! Glad it was worth it for you. Excellent variety and looks like the soil was mostly kind.

Nice finds fellas! Way to brave the cold and take advantage of the "shoulder season". Hopefully this cold snap will be followed by a good stretch of warm weather and some more good finds for all.

Love the KG and SLQ. Cheers

Thanks guys,I fell asleep there for a little bit. I've been out in the fields allot lately.I really prefer yards much more. I'm looking forward to a couple spots I'm saving for after hunting season. Right now I don't want to mess up anybody's deer hunt. One of them was that cellar hole I found that shield with rays in. I think there are more cellars out there.

Great stuff fellas! Awesome to meet a nice home owner like that. And good on you for giving him all the finds. A guy like that with a great historical property who's nice enough to let you hunt it deserves a nice display full of coins and relics. After all it's just a few dollars in coins. But it's worth a whole lot more to him and the property. That silver thimble is really beautiful and interesting. And if that's a pewter button it is bad ass!

Well........You are the guy that told me I would not find any coins at my 1600s site lol. "Those settlers didn't have any coins. They were dirt poor. And what the hell would they need money for anyway. They traded for everything." Lol. But no I would never ever ever question you :-)
