Lake Lure - Rutherford county - Update

Is anyone in the Lake Lure Rutherford county area.
I found reference to a ghost town there. It was a tannery for the civil war.
It is long gone but is on privately owned property now.

The town of Ayr was to the east of Chimney Rock.
Here is a 1907 topo that shows the site.

I work with someone that lives up the road from that area. His family once owned land that now sits under Lake Lure. He may know some info about Ayr. He has spoken in the past about Bills Creek, Bills Mountain and Hickory Nut . By the way, it's East of Chimney Rock

I think it would be cool to try and visualize how the area was laid out and maybe even look for relics.
