Hello everyone. Just returned from a week at Lake of the Ozarks with the wife and kids. I had applied for and received a permit which the State of Missouri issues for only certain parks and LOOSP was one of those sites. I hit the beach at 6:58 AM (permit said it was okay to detect from 7-9AM). I started finding junk right off the bat. Now the sign at the lake clearly says that all Alcoholic beverages are prohibbited. I only kept a few items to show those of you on the forum that look at this post. After about an hour and a half I was giving up only having found 1 penny. Then a truck pulled into the lot and a guy gets out and starts taking out diving equipment. Didn't think much about it until the detector came out. This guy was REALLY nice. I regret not getting his name. He stood and talked to me for over 30 minutes about how he got into the hobby, stuff he finds etc. He hunts for only jewlery and sometimes finds the odd pair of sunglasses as well but leaves the coins alone. I guess I am going to have to learn how to dive and buy the equipment. Anyway even though I didn't find much I did get to talk to another member of the hobby. Sorry about the limited finds but the scuba guy said that an older gentleman often detects the beach areas. Anyway I did get to detect for a while and added a few coins to the count.

hmm....no drinking? I bet that law gets enforced about as much as the "no fireworks" ban in my city.

Good story.
I don't think I would ever do the underwater hunting.
I'll stick to dry ground....
