Lance's 1907 Dog Tax

Hi everyone, My brother left this 1907 dog tax at my house. I figured I would post it for him. I have a better scanner. And it's alot quicker for me to do it.

It's a nice peice that was found at the old tavern site on Saturday. He found some other nice stuff also.

I'll let him tell you all the rest.

I have found dozens of dog tags
but nothing this old. Great find!!!

Dog tags first started appearing in the US in numbers in the 1890s.

The ones from the 1890s and early 1900s are the most sought after, obviously. They can get spendy.

nice tag! the oldest one i have found was a 1924 kent county md dog tax tag. yours is in way better shape than mine though. congrats!

There are so many different tags out there I don't think any specific pricing is available. I can tell you from experience that on Ebay most tags from 1900 to 1910 bring approximately $30 to $50 each. This can vary wildly of course with factors like condition, specific city demand, the closing time of the auction, and who is looking at the time.
