Hi,

I just bought a Minelab Sovereign GT and I am now looking for a nice set of headphones. Most of my hunting will be done on land. But I will eventually waterproof the box for snorkling.

Does an underwater pair of headphones, like for exemple the Gray Ghost Underwater headphones, offer the same sound quality and resolution on land than any other "land headphones" of the same "line range/price range/quality range", lets say a Gray Ghost Original? Or are they almost as good or nothing alike?

I need to decide if I am going right now with a good all around (land/underwater) pair or if I should just buy a land pair for now and wait for the dedicated underwater pair.

Thank you for your help,
Sylvain

The water phones would not offer the same sound quality because sound travels faster in water than air. To use the same components from a land unit would blow off your ears underwater. I use the Grey Ghost land phones and they are very good, though I never used Black Widows or Killr Bees.

Thanks doc!
