Landfill search for 'E.T.' video game is halted

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico environmental regulators are blocking two companies from digging up an Alamogordo landfill in search of a rumored cache of what some consider the worst Atari video game of all time.
Game cartridges for "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial," based on Steven Spielberg's blockbuster hit film, were reportedly dumped in the landfill in the 1980s, according to the Alamogordo Daily News

LOL...That seems so bizarre...the new treasure !!!

Makes ya wonder what will be considered treasure in 500 years.
 

Still have my Atari game system and a ET video game still in its original box.... along with quite a few others, maybe my grand kids will have fun with it.
 

They made millions of them. They expected the movie to drive people to buy the system in order to buy the game. They made more of that game than there were machines sold
