Lar Hothem Auction & 1/25 find.

Went to the Lar Hothem Auction yesterday picked up a few pieces.Was amazed the prices his relics were selling for. Out of the 35 pieces 25 of them are personal finds by Lar and marked also.

Found this stemmed piece made of Cosh. on a gravel bar along the Scioto river today.

You got some really sweet, colorful pieces there. Looks like alot of flint ridge and some possible sonora.? nice stemmed find as well. I wish I would have made the trip to that auction.

Theres going to be 1 more auction.They do a live internet sale thru Live Auctioneers.

Nice find, I'm jealous and homesick! Of course I was boating today and had a picnic on an island. I don't think Ohio is quite that warm! Thanks.

Nice pieces pick. I watched the first Lar Hothem auction on line and I too was amazed at how high the artifacts went. My guess is because they are well documented and because Lars name is attached to them.

BamaRon,From what I can remember a hoe went for 1000,1 clovis went for 4 grand,multiple doves went around 1 grand a piece,a few axes went up to around a grand even 1 celt hit a grand,alot of the field grade stuff was hit or miss mainly high prices went to the net sales. i got less than $7 a piece for what i got but there are pieces in there that i wouldnt give that much for.

Newnan man 20 degrees & it snowed right after i found that one.

mudonmyshoes i might put some of the pieces on ebay to sell will let you know when i do.

Theres gonna be 1 more auction of 80 lots in March eithier in Columbus or Mansfield I think he said mainly celts and a few odds & ends.Im guessing the nonpayers from Ebay.

WOW!!! That's outrageous. I know the stuff was well documented, but I think people went a little overboard on some of that stuff. Some of the pieces from the first auction went a lot higher than I thought they were worth. I saw trays of 25 to 30 Madison Triangles go for close to $500. That ridiculous.

I'll be able to tell ya what everything sold for here soon i preordered a copy of the Hothem sale book Bennett is writing, it will be detailed pics of all pieces & what they sold for at auction.Was pricey ay $70 bucks but it might come in handy down the Rd.
