Found at home built in 1872 worked area and found a brass rivet with leather still attached and nothing else around an oak tree 4.5' in diameter started to work another area and said there has to be something else around a tree that old so i went back and started working area in a criss cross patern and got a signal that was weak with a vdi 40ish then 50ish then 60ish at 7.5" out popped a green disc man did my heart start thumpin so I slapped a little spitoon juice or her and read the date 1865 and seen the back read 2 cents my first 2 center so if an area should produce and it doesnt try working the area in a cross pattern instead of back and forth try multiple angles and the signals may register stronger than before

nice !!!!! ya gotta be happy with that one.... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Nice 2 center. Hopefully you can get back there and hit that site hard. I had a site earlier this year that only produced a few coins. lucky for me one was a 2 center (1864). Great find! ;D

Nice coin!!!
Thanks for the advice. I'll try it on some of my older homes.

Fantastic find! Those big trees pay off.

Great coin - congrats. Guess that should be a lesson for us all - slow, run a pattern - and listen for those whispers.

Happy Hunting!

Great 2-center! Anything in the 1800's is excellent for Michigan.

I sort-of-grew-up over there in G.R. I'm living and MD'ing on the east side now (and I won't try to claim-jump your site), but I'm curious as to what part of town or the surrounding 'burbs you're hunting.
I was in E.G.R. growing up (sort of), and College & Wealthy in the 70's. If you get permission for any of the houses in the Heritage Hill district, you'll do fine.

I found an 1864 2-Cent last year. It was about 2" down on the site of an 1800's buggy repair shop. It was that find that got me reading the Red Book of Coins to start my education.

Hey Admiral I try to stick to the untouched sites ive done all the parks schools etc with occassional success but I enjoy the old homesteads and forest ruins i dont care about gold and rings I care about the history to see how people lived in the past you can learn alot from an old spoon or a button more than a ring
