Looks like some sort of gear, but not sure what for. Thoughts?

looks like a gas stove burner to me. Post a pic of the other side after you clean it.

Out of a seed spreader.

Bruce is close .. out of a corn hopper on a corn planter

Yeah, I think it rotates at the bottom of the hopper to spread the seed.
