Trunk latch plate?

Since it is sterling , I would think perhaps a clock face surround , also maybe a small mirror for a vanity piece.

Nice big piece of silver, whatever it happens to be!

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Sure it's not tin? I found something with a similar patina that was.

Looks like it goes around a doorknob for sure. Awesome detail on it though. Cool find!

I'm thinking its a door knob cover plate. Nice find.

Lovely art nouveau piece - congrats!

Where on the piece does it show STERLING?
Don.....

You caught me. My goal was to fool the entire internet with my find worth upwards of a lofty $16, with hopes of getting on the banner. But alas, my plan was foiled (no pun intended because it's as thin as foil). Dang it! I really had everyone going. Guess I'll just discard the XRF gun that I used on it and got a sterling silver reading. I'm going to hang my head in shame over the internet detectives figuring it out.

I'm thinking possibly the fantasy front of a vanity clock. Oddly I have often found clock prices and parts in old dump sites, one piece I found was a disk that had info on printed, but I was unfamiliar with and when I looked it up it was the back cover of a small desk like ladies vanity clock. A lot of broken clocks were certainly discarded over the years was my opinion after finding pieces in dump sites.
