Largest 3 ringer I've ever found

Went out to one of my old sites this past sat. It always seems to produce something. Anyways, after I saw 2 snakes I figured it was time to get out of dodge! I'm pretty sure I know what the brass item is, but i'll leave to you guys to decide. big bullet 006.webpbig bullet 001.webpbig bullet 002.webpbig bullet 003.webpbig bullet 004.webpbig bullet 005.webp

Just my highly uneducated guess.. is it the end of a sword scabbard perhaps?

It's a 69 cal. Bet the brass piece is a scabbard tip. Congrats on some great finds.:icon_thumleft:

Thats what I thought at first before I got home and cleaned it up. Def. not a scabbard tip

They kind of resemble Burnside cartridges but I can't explain the design on them. I've found, over the years, several of them stuck together like that.

Burnside cases stuck together. Ive got some like that too

Digger and James got it right. I have some, too.

Nice Burnside Cartridge find mr.b. Thanks for sharing...

Thanks guys, That's what I thought they were but wasn't sure.

can you imagine getting hit with a .69 cal.? :o

It's pretty heavy too, I tried to weigh it but my scale only goes to 500 grains. It must have taken a heavy charge of powder to launch that rascal! I've found a lot of .69 cal stuff for smooth bores but this looks like it was meant for a rifled barrel:dontknow:
