Got out this weekend with 3cylbill. Went to this crazy cellar that was absolutely covered in lillys of some sort. They followed a spring down that let out right at the base of the cellar. Found a large cent where someone smashed a hole right through the date. last digit is a one so I'm thinking 1841? Also found a button, and indian, parasol slide, and some other odds. Bill found his first flying eagle cent. thanks for checking it out.

Beautiful looking site!

Looks like tough swinging there, but great job on finding some keepers. Finding an LC always makes my day. Congrats!

took over 40 years to find a flying eagle , all thats left is the eagle as they rot away different than an indian as they are copper and nickle and indians are copper and tin. slammed in at 15 every swing with the nox...thanks T for letting me your 800...::occasion14:

Nice save. Congrats

Nice old copper! :occasion14:

Nice finds. Dont you just hate it, when they put the hole right through the date ? At least you can see the "1", and its hard to tell from the corrosion on the coin in your pic, but it could also be an 1821 or 31 making it the Coronet style LC. If it is 1841 it will be the Braided Hair style. You will be able to see the design better than us, since the coin is in your hand. Just google, or use a coin book like the Redbook, and look at the 1821,31 and 41 to see the difference, and you will know which style and year that you have.

Yeah it was pretty surreal out in the middle of nowhere in open woods like that. I have seen cellars covered in day lilly like this before, but always accompanied by copious amount of brush and honey suckle.

The cellar was in the top right and actually mostly clear around it. What was really cool was the origional 50 ft of stone steps/walk way through the lillys from the 1800s was there and not buried yet.

Thanks they don't come out too often.

Yeah I'm pretty positive about the 1841. I like holed coins, but hate when it smashes the date.

An exciting site you've found there, and hopefully more to come from it. Congrats on your finds so far! :skullflag: :occasion14:
