Mayhew’s “claim to fame” was his 1851 book entitled “Mayhew’s Practical Book-Keeping,” which had become so popular, that by 1873 it was in its 90th printing. The “Michigan Farmer” magazine once said “It is at once the cheapest and the best work on book-keeping we have ever seen.”

My best day for larges yesterday. The 1840 and CW token were in good shape but the Matron & KG III couldn't get dates on.
nice finds I like the tokens are definitely very cool finds. Congratulations

Fascinating seems he was a slippery character, thanks for sharing.

Congrats on your finds! :icon_thumleft:

OOps, being from Michigan, don't see alot of those east coast British pennies, hence screwed up on identifying the KG III, its actually a KG I. Pic below is of the KG I (top) I misidentified next to an 1806 KG III found earlier this year (bottom). I ihough both have left facing busts, the KG I is much larger and the "s" at 11 o'clock and bow in his hair sealed the deal as a I. Apologies for the misidentification but I just don't see these where I hunt. Thanks!
