The snow is still covering the ground. A couple of days ago I hunted near a small frozen river, and on the edge, where there was a fresh water spring exposing the dirt, I got a signal. After digging down in the cold muck, I pulled out a magnet at about 8" and a very powerful one at that. It had a warning not to get your fingers between the magnet and a metal surface. I figure, someone was magnet fishing the creek for fishing lures, and must of snagged it after tossing it to the other side of the creek. The rope broke, and he never bothered to get it. Tonite after work I hit a couple of snow hills and got a nice bunch of coins. It's great to get out! It was a couple of degrees above freezing. The high for this coming Friday is -19.
