Last hunt of '08
Hi gang, forgot to post this one. I picked up that crazyjarhead and took him to my little honey hole. We braved the cold wind and artic temps digging through frozen ground. We were both finding wheats, but Ron scored the first silver with a merc. That made me more determined and I hunkered down so as not to get skunked. First area I moved to gave up a 1917 wheat and then a 1916 buffalo nickel, after that it was all clad, time to move on. I worked an area that was really old, but was loaded with modern coins. I was only going to dig the 4 inch plus crowd, but after a while of nothing but 2 inch or less targets, I finally reluctantly dug a 2.5 inch depth target. Glad I did, right below the sod was a 41 merc.
I rescanned the hole and there was still a target there. I dug through the sod and out fell another 41 merc, this one from Denver. Did I mention a lot of the grounds were frozen and soon so was I. As I was walking back to my Jeep I saw Ron excited over digging a Standing Liberty Quarter in an area I had hammered.
Pretty good couple hours for both of us. Also in the pic is a heart shaped alluminum "pendant" with the name of Vickey I found last trip.
