First attempt at posting photos. Found this unidentified brass item the end is hollow and threaded on the inside. Any ideas? Button is I believe a confederate script e. .

I believe it is a CW script e button.
Here is a picture of a C (Calvary) button and the next picture is an E (Engineers). They are very similar.
That's a killer find!
