Last Year's Schoolhouse Silver

This will be my last post until I find something new THIS YEAR. I am still buried in 3 plus feet of snow so that might be a while yet. During last year's winter, I did a little research and discovered an old schoolhouse within 2 miles of my home. It was opened in the 1880's and closed its doors in the 1970's. It is now a hunting camp and it was easy to secure permission for a hunt. After 4 solid days of hunting, I unearthed a little over 300 coins including the 22 silver coins pictured here. Looking through these old finds is the only thing keeping me going right now!! Thanks for looking.

Very sweet finds, walleye!!! I've not found the old coins yet, but my research this winter has given me a few fine spots to check out. I'm hoping for returns similar to yours!!!

Maybe this will help you... we finally reached the 50 degree mark in Northern Kentucky! And all the snow is gone! It certainly has to be heading your way... eventually!

Happy Hunting!

All those coins must be mighty cold when you find them. Why don't you put them in my pocket to warm them up?

Thanks for the comments guys. The research in this instance really did pay off. And coinshooter, I could let you warm them up for me a while if you give them back!! I'm happy to say that it got to a whopping 40 degrees today!!!! The sun was even shining, but it's going to take a while before I can get out. Happy Hunting.

I'm a little late posting this, but I'd like to know more about the barber dime. Is it 1910? It looks to be in very good shape, all the barbers tended to wear badly. Can you make out the mint mark on the reverse? It would be at the bottom, below the wreath. A 1910 s is worth some money, a d is also worth a little. It's really a nice looking Barber.

Fueller,

It is a beautiful 1910 S Barber Dime. It has a full liberty across the headband and is one of the nicer ones I have found. Thanks for the interest.

Fueller,

I meant to correct you on that 1910 S dime, but I mistakenly wrote the same date because I must have had it in my head. It is ACTUALLY a 1916 S Barber Dime. Sorry about that!!

I noticed that you're in Emporium, Pa. Have you ever searched the boy scout camp in Potter County? It was there until the 1940's.
