I purchased this stamp about 25 years ago,somewhere in the back of my mind I seemed to recall this name and because of it I decided to keep it.
Does anyone on this site have any information concerning it.

the stamp reads as the subject heading.

OK , I Searched SCARLE ROAD MIDDLESEX & Got Several Hits.

? HOWEVER when I add LAURELS , I only get Traffic Comission.

It's obvious Your Stamp is Old.

Yeah,I've google it and had the same luck.In the back of my mind I've tried to connect it to some famous author or book of which the Laruels was the main subject.

Just tidying up some blasts from the past (including some very ancient ones), largely for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

Wembley used to be in the county of Middlesex but, as a result of local government reforms, isn’t any longer. Since 1965 it has been a London suburb in the newly created Borough of Brent, NW London. Since the address is given as ‘NW’ it has to be after that change. In modern times Scarle Road has been an essentially residential area, and I would guess this embosser was produced for someone living in a property with a laurel hedge frontage called “Laurels”, before the Post Office became more insistent on properties being numbered for delivery purposes. These kinds of embossing stamps were commonly sold in magazines such as “Exchange & Mart” for people who wanted a convenient, albeit pretentious, way of marking their correspondence.
