Found on an old school site in bentonville, arkansas also civil war activity in the area - US bridle rosette found within a hundred yards. - non-magnetic, 1" in diameter, possibly lead, although looks like it was -painted black at one time. Thought originally it was being used as a marble...any guesses?

Second picture compares with a 1 1/4" cannister shot and a .87 cal parrott gun shot

Thanks

Welcome to the forum! How do you know it was painted black at one time? I see a couple of black flecks; is that the paint? Breezie

Did you find it around a driveway, they use them in rock crushers. But if not I have found lot's of Bullets that are black you could say they look like they have paint on them but it's not paint.

I have it at my other office - It doesn't look like a lead ball to me but has a similar weight. i don't think it's brass or copper.

Is it metal? was it found with a detector ? If not then Id guess marble. But If we cant find out what type of material its made of then its just a round thing.

it IS metal, found with a detector. I thought maybe a marble too, as the school was closed in about 1918...and maybe somebody was using it for a marble. I think "it's just a round thing" describes it prefectly!

Is it as heavy as a round ball or lighter. I'd take some measurements and weigh it and go off what your other bullets weigh and measure at.
